Having too many options is one of the best things about living in New York City. We are constantly being pulled to this show and that cafe or to that gallery or this park. Sometimes our options feel limitless…but they’re not! When it comes down to it, you need to make a decision! Luckily the events we picked out allow you some flexibility. For one, they’re spread out over three days and they’re all local, which sort of allows you to bar hop. One of the events is all day so you can pop in and out! It doesn’t matter which show you go to, just go to one!

There is a steady hum that has begun to permeate the streets of Bushwick. What is this noise, you say? It is the rhythm and the life of Bushwick, which is literally bursting at the seams with creative energy and vibrancy. While the New York art world is still catching its breath from last week’s Frieze Art Festival on Randall’s Island, Bushwick continues its stride, bringing new and exciting arts events each and every weekend. We at Bushwick Daily aren’t going to let you miss a single beat! Make sure to check out these art events happening in this weekend!

FriezeNight-Bushwick

While many people will be flocking to Randall’s Island for the second annual Frieze New York Art Fair and the plethora of other fairs that have temporarily infiltrated our fair city, the art galleries of Bushwick/Ridgewood have put together a collaborative Gallery Late Night in honor of the art-centric occasion.  This weekend’s installment will prove to be even bigger and more exciting with over FORTY participating galleries spanning across our entire neighborhood!  As we take pride in our dear Bushwick and Ridgewood, and congratulate ourselves on its prowess. From 6-10PM come enjoy the gorgeous weather from and check out some fabulous art! Don’t forget to follow the fabulous beta version gallery map!

Get dirty! (Gif © MAXMILLIONAIRE 2012)

This city can put oneself into a tailspin of negativity. It is a fight to get into the city and to get some gluten free organic pancakes - am I right, ladies??? Seriously, though. Put down the all-natural cruelty-free honey-soaked Wonderbread and get dirty like a child in the sandbox. This city is reaching top levels in all categories and genres of music! From Friday to Sunday, we have your life planned out so you can just press play. Hint: It includes the Redbull Music Academy, the Downtown Festival, and a lot going on in the ‘hood.

… If you are like me - half Latina, half Gringa, but all drinka - then Cinco De Mayo is amateur night. In the spirit of St. Patrick’s day, this is a holiday where no one really knows the true meaning behind it; but as long as you are drinking everything makes sense. Es verdad. This year Cinco De Mayo falls on a Sunday, which is brunch day. Brunch is my religion, and I ain’t no amateur.

So go ahead and grab the ethnic threads of the Tijuana multi colored poncho, sombrero, and drink Cuervo Especial like it’s your first college party. ORALE.

Get Fired Up! Top 9 Concerts This Weekend

Oh, Jimi.

We’re constantly astounded by the incredible live music scene here in Bushwick, and we’re having trouble finding creative ways to say so every single Thursday. All we know is that these eight shows will fire you up. And hopefully even possess you by their flaminess, like good ol’ Jimi. We’ve got shows from tonight through Sunday night in the hood (and some in other places) - from a Sunday night punk show coming in at #9 to our #1 pick, a Red Bull Music Academy Noise Rock show at the Knockdown Center in Queens TONIGHT.
