At 199Cook Work Next to the Top Notch Creatives From Bushwick and Beyond

Take a closer look at the newly renovated former factory offers stunning work and retail spaces.

Earlier this month we told you about the groundbreaking nonprofit organization that supports collaborative experiments with technology by artists through education, residencies and events, Eyebeam, moving to Bushwick. Now we know more about their homebase, a beautiful new office, retail, and studio building, 199Cook. What’s even more exciting? You can become the organization’s neighbor and secure yourself and your company an idea-inspiring space full of awe and light.

The former factory at 199 Cook Street (on the corner with White Street) will be available for tenants to move in on Oct. 15. The building has been gut-renovated and beautifully designed, and presently offers four floors of Pintrest-worthy premises. 28 private office/studio spaces; 6,000 square feet of stunning white-boxed climate controlled retail space, and a great cellar space, which opens to a courtyard, are welcoming to creative entrepreneurs, artists, and makers.

Furthermore, the location off of the Morgan L train stop, is as good as it gets in our area, with a ton of beloved bars, restaurants, and galleries within a short walking distance, ensuring that your lunches and after-work outings will be nothing short of epic.

The work spaces come in a variety of sizes, ranging from 300 to 1,400 square feet. Each of the rooms has a gorgeously tall ceiling and simple yet sleek original hardwood floors. The best part? Every room has its own large window, which makes effectively every room awesome, regardless of the price or size. Each of the rooms also comes equipped with an industrial fan and heat.

The tenants can make use of the elevator-serviced grand lobby and common space as well as new bathrooms with beautifully appointed artist-friendly sinks. In the best Bushwick fashion, the building has a gorgeous roofdeck, perfect for brainstorming sessions or sun-drenches lunches in the warm months of the year. There is also a boarding deck and freight elevator for easy in and out rounds with materials and/or finished products.

When asked about the most exciting and distinctive feature of the building, Shawn Mullahy who is repping the developer on the project, mentioned accessibility. With private office spaces starting at $1,500, you might want to book a tour right now.

Some of the committed tenants at 199Cook include an interior design firm, a film production studio, and a hospitality group. Mullahy is looking forward to welcoming an eclectic mix of people in the building from all sorts of creative backgrounds, sourced primarily from Bushwick.

The 6,000-square-foot ground floor level offers two retail spaces. Since one of these is spaces is the future home to Eyebeam, we would love to see another gallery or an art organization taking over the other space. Together the organizations could create another distinctive artist outpost in the neighborhood with exciting events, art openings and residencies that Eyebeam has become known for.

To be part of Eyebeam's upcoming slew of events in the neighborhood, make sure you plan on attending their housewarming party on November 30 (more info to come). If you wish to make a tax deductible donation to Eyebeam, you can do so here.

The cellar opens to a courtyard, and Mullahy told us that they imagine a restaurant taking over and making use of that great indoor and outdoor space. Foodie events, yes please!
