After months of build-up, 1 Knickerbocker will finally open its doors tonight, says Brooklyn Based. The hotly anticipated eatery will be serving turn-of-the-20th-century-style American food, in a nod to the extensive history of the building and the neighborhood. Between 1900 and 1915, more than 15 million immigrants landed on American shores, and many of them wound up in New York, kicking off the culinary diversity we enjoy today. 1 Knickerbocker will celebrate that history, and they will, most likely, do so deliciously. Think “in-house pickling operation” and “house-made egg nog.”

For now, they’ll only be serving dinner, but expect brunch and late night food soon. Go check the place out tonight, and let us know what you think!
