Some Bushwick properties are run by two of the 10 worst landlords in New York City, according to an official list that was published yesterday.

Jonathan Cohen/Silvershore Properties is officially the worst landlord in the city with 188 units in 19 buildings with 1090 HPD violations. Four of those buildings and 249 of those violations can be found in Bushwick.

Meir Fried is the eighth worst landlord in the city. His buildings account for 131 units in 18 buildings with 718 HPD violations. Two of those buildings are in Bushwick and they make up 83 of Fried’s violations.

There were 43 total cases in Bushwick plotted on the landlord watchlist map. While he didn’t make the Top 10 list, Deodat Lowtan is a rising Bushwick slumlord. His properties account for 14 of the 43 properties on the map, with most of them between Myrtle and Flushing Avenue.

Joel Kohn, who was listed in last year’s Top 10 but moved lower on the list due to improvements in his buildings, still owns eight buildings in Bushwick that appear on the landlord watchlist map.

Public Advocate Letitia James released the 2017 Worst Landlords Watchlist, which was started in 2010 by then-Public Advocate Bill de Blasio.
