Blizzard Stella Spits Snow, Sleet, and Wind All Over Bushwick

You are likely not leaving your apartment anytime soon.

Mid-March storms are not uncommon as winter wraps up, but Bushwick has had a mild winter, so forgive us if we get excited about this final snow day. Here's what you need to know to stay safe and get around.

First of all, there is no above-ground service on the MTA, and L train service begins and ends at Myrtle-Wyckoff Ave. The J train is only running in Manhattan. The M and the Z are completely out of commission. In general, buses are running on a reduced schedule.

Public schools are all closed today, and alternate sides parking is suspended. Even though the official Blizzard Warning from the National Weather Service has been canceled, the winds will still gust to 50 mph. Because of all of this ice, the visibility will be better than expected.

Falansai and Pitanga have announced closures so far today, but plenty of coffee shops such as Little Skips, Supercrown, and Bushwick Public House are keeping their doors open to anyone who wants to brave those high-velocity ice pellets.

Nooooo

According to Weather Channel maps, we'll still get 5 to 8 inches of snow and ice through the evening but nothing like the 18 inches some had predicted.

The good news is that if you didn't stock up on groceries last night, you probably won't encounter any issues. The bad news is you'll still have to get out in the elements on a day when Netflix and popcorn are really the best option.
