Amazing Weekend for Music Lovers: 8 Life-Changing Experiences

By Maria Gotay & Jenna Aranda

By Maria Gotay & Jenna Aranda

Music fans, we've got an amazing weekend for you. First and foremost, Northside is dominating Williamsburg with a 10-block long art-centric block party, free shows in McCarren Park, and tons of unofficial shows popping up everywhere. But that's not all that's going on - there are a plethora of other parties, free shows, and music that you should check out!

8. Push The Night w/ Brad Miller, Illich Mujica, Sebastian Golabek  @ Sullivan Room (FRI 10PM, 5$ before midnight, $10 after with RSVP to infoATdjbradmiller.com)

While everyone is doing the Northside Festival, Brad Miller takes over the well-known Sullivan Room. Brad Miller has shared the decks with top headliners like SwedishHouse Mafia, BT, Sander Van Doorn, and Cosmic Gate. If you are looking for electronic music, without the bottle service, and a dance floor of dedicated house-head who will be dancing, not parking on the floor, you must go. Very rare in the city that you can get this experience for the cover price and DJ. Wear comfortable shoes and be ready to sweat.

7. Powerslug Presents: Classixx, Fred Falke @ Le Poisson Rouge  (SAT 11PM, $15-20 )

This is the premiere event this weekend for every one seeking the next hottest music genre. Classixx is performing with Fred Falke at LPR. Their new album just released "Hanging Gardens" conjurs up bright, breezy revamped 80's electric rhythms. They have an arsenal of remixes from Phoenix, Nervo, and a track with Jeppe (Lady Gaga collaborator ). They will not be playing a room like this again. After seeing them in this setting, you can forever chime in on any conversation with one of those "I was there" moments.

6. Cobra Club's 1 Year Anniversary @ Cobra Club (SAT 9PM-4AM, $FREE)

We love the Cobra Club, and it seems like it was only a few months ago that they graced us with their delicious coffee, cute patio, frito pies, and the perfect happy hour. Come celebrate the joint on Saturday with live music from The Spastiks and Shiro and the Raw Dogs!

5. Seaport Festival @ Seaport's Pier 17 (FRI 7PM, $FREE)

Free concerts of indie bands White Fence and PAWS, with a backdrop of gorgeous of downtown Manhattan, awaits you on Friday at Seaport Festival. Rain or shine, Pier 17 is easily accessible from Bushwick by J & Z trains to Fulton.

4. Summer Time Punky Reggae Show @ The Tea Factory (FRI 9PM, $FREE)

Tea Factory has got to be the most fun (and clean) of all the loft factories around Bushwick. Come to a house party featuring bands The Far East from Brooklyn and All People, hot from New Orleans!

3. The Zombies, Django Django, Adam Green (and Binki Shapiro), Modest P (DJ Sets) @ SummerStage (SAT doors 3PM, $FREE)

A gaggle of genre-bending bands, including old-fashioned crude classic pop from Adam Green, dancescratch indie beats of Django Django, and the epicness of 50-year-old Britrock band The Zombies - all for free in Central Park. Oh dear.

2. Bang!ON NYC @ secret location off Montrose L (SAT 9PM, $30)

Bang!On party collective proudly holds the legacy of warehouse parties held in the East Williamsburg/Bushwick area. For a relatively low price, you are up for sets by world class DJs (Felix Da Housecat,  KOAN SoundChainsmokersSydney Blu, etc.) and likely the best 3D experience of your life: video mapped 3D, reactive lighting, 3D TV installations & SO much more. You will receive your 3D glasses upon your arrival.

1. Northside Festival @ Various Venues (THURS-SUN, see website for schedule)

This is going to be the NYC festival of the summer. Expect the unexpected - pop-up performances, costumes, free booze and, of course, great music! See our guide to all things (cheap * free * fun) at Northside.
