Guys — it’s officially the last weekend in August. September 1st is this upcoming Tuesday (what!). Maybe you were too busy sitting directly in front of your air conditioner to realize these temperatures would actually drop at some point. Perhaps you were trapped in a continuous alcohol-and-Vitamin-D-infused daze from all those rooftop parties you attended, to realize your time was limited. Well I am here to tell you now – summer is actually ending.

Don’t get me wrong — fall is fantastic. Just doesn’t have the same feel as flagging down an ice cream truck after you’ve been walking all day in the concrete heat. Or the relief you feel from the cool, dreamy breeze at Rockaway. Or the sound of children playing in the overflowing fire hydrants. Ok, you get my point. Brooklyn definitely feels more alive in the summer. At some point this weekend, just look around and take it all in! And what better way to do that, than enjoying one of these top killer shows. Go out and get to it.

#10 August on Sunday, Gallons of Pork, Starlight Factory, Whicker House @ Bushwick Public House, 1288 Myrtle Avenue Bushwick (Fri, 8PM, $5)

Start your weekend off right with a $5 rock show. With great music and a solid bar, you can’t go wrong. And there’s a band playing with the name Gallons of Pork?! If you’re not somewhat intrigued by that, there’s something seriously wrong – and that’s coming from a vegetarian.

#9 The Everymen, Raccoon Fighter, Past Life @ Cameo Gallery, 93 N 6th Street, Williamsburg (Sat, 8PM, $8)

New Jersey rockers The Everymen have officially completed their summer tour, opening for The War On Drugs. This will be their last show for a while – possibly for the rest of 2015. Maybe taking a hiatus to work on new music? Go see them while you can!

#8 Tamaryn Crainkiss Record Release Show w/ Samantha Urbani @ (le) poisson rouge, 158 Bleeker Street (Fri, 7PM-1oPM, $13)

Two words: girl power. The Crainkiss record is expected to be filled with dark rock, dance pop and is Tamaryn’s most personal record to date. You may have additionally caught Samantha Urbani’s solo show at Baby’s All Right this June. Together, these two make a solid lineup.

#7 Ronnie Stone & The Lonely Riders Motorcycle Yearbook LP Release Party @ Baby’s All Right, 146 Broadway, Williamsburg (Sat, 11:45PM, $12)

Expect tons of leather, studs and elaborately-planned choreography. You never know what to expect with these guys and that’s the best part about it. It will be somewhere in between a wild live show and performance art. We do know you will definitely be teleported to an alternative, biker goth universe.

#6 DFA Records Summer Hot Dog No1 @ Good Room, 98 Meserole Avenue, Greenpoint (Sat, 9PM-4AM, $30)

This is definitely a Saturday night spent right. Surprises are always great, but even more so when the forward-thinking DFA Records fam is involved. Good Room will be hosting the label’s ‘very special live performance’ and featured DJ sets. Early bird tickets are $25, so get them before Saturday!

#5 Warm Up: Matias Aguayo, Kingdom, D∆WN, DJ Windows 98 (Win Butler from Arcade Fire), Murlo, FALSE WITNESS @ MoMA PS1 Courtyard, 22-25 Jackson Avenue, Long Island City (Sat, 12PM-9PM, $18)

Warm Up is a fantastic summer tradition of MoMa PS1. If you haven’t gone yet, imagine jamming out to beats in an intimate outdoor courtyard venue and polishing off some Québécois-fusion themed M. Wells Food & Drink. The season officially ends next weekend and this lineup couldn’t be more eclectic, so there’s no better time to go. Get your advance admission tickets here.

#4 Midnight Magic @ The Roof, Output, 74 Wythe Avenue, Williamsburg (Fri, 5PM, $10)

What’s better than a sunset rooftop party on a Friday night? Hearing this dope disco ensemble perform Beam Me Up and grabbing hold of some savory salteñas from no other than the Bolivian LLAMA Party. Doors open at 5PM.

#3 Noisey and Shiner Beer Present: Speedy Ortiz, Aye Nako & Surprise Guest @ Saint Vitus Bar, 1120 Manhattan Avenue, Greenpoint (Mon, 8PM, $SOLDOUT)

Well, this show was $5. It sold out fast and whoever got through, is going to have a killer time this upcoming Monday. There will be free Shiner Beer, pop punk tendencies from Aye Nako and Speedy Ortiz will possibly (and hopefully) play a ton of songs from Foil Deer.

#2 Bushwick Summer Block Party @ Troutman btwn Knickerbocker & Wilson (Sun, 12PM-8PM, $FREE)

It’s the end of the summer and three Bushwick friends are organizing a community block party to have August go out with a bang. Bring your friends and prepare for a perfect Sunday afternoon. Music will be provided by Terrence Wilson, DJ KID BKLYN and DJ Bengey. After party begins at 8PM with drinks, hosted by Tandem!
