Take a look around, Bushwick. What do you see? The days are longer. The temperatures are rising. The polar vortex is now but a mere, distant memory (we hope). Finally, it’s the freakin’ weekend, and there’s simply no shortage of fantastic musical options (The Good Festival, Kal Marks, Heliotropes, Caveman, etc) perfect for celebrating the spring season. We don’t know about you, but around here, we’re ready to boogie. Let’s get down, Dirk Diggler Style!

#10 Low Fat Getting High, Vulture Shit, Hive Bent, Grizzlor @ Death By Audio (THU 8PM, $7)

Another day, another solid punk lineup courtesy of Death By Audio. Don’t miss some of the best local noise around, including the thrashy scuzz of Brooklyn’s own Vulture Shit.

#9 Many Mansions (Tarot Society) @ Body Actualized (SUN 7 PM, $5- 15)

Peer into the future this weekend at Body Actualized Center. In addition to tarot readings, the night will feature live music by Many Mansions, an ambient DJ set, and more divine fun.

#8 Blood Orange (The Lost Lectures) @ Secret Location (FRI 8PM, $30)

Feel like stretching your mind this weekend? The Lost Lectures is a super cool series, straight from London, that’s landing in New York this Friday. The art, music and culture event will feature Dev Hynes of Blood Orange, dance band Flex Is Kings, plus lectures from writers, photographers, and more.

#7 Dad Jams Party @ Glasslands (FRI 11:30PM, $5)

You don’t have to have given the gift of life in order to party like someone who has. Of course, we’re talking about dads; they’re the dudes in your lives who are notorious for loving things like barbecues, man caves, and of course, dad music. This Friday, get your dad dance party fix at Glasslands, which will be spinning the likes of Rod Stewart, Bruce Springsteen, Steely Dan, and more. Don’t forget to dress a little less hip than usual (#dadcore, anyone?) and BYO Dad!

#6 Heliotropes, Mean Creek & Dead Stars @ Union Pool (SAT 9PM, $8)

Mosey on over to Union Pool this Saturday night and catch a few of our very favorites. Heliotropes are great if you love hair-flipping and shreddy guitars. Mean Creek deliver punk-inspired alt straight from Boston. And Brooklyn’s Dead Stars create self-proclaimed “indie fuzz pop” that’s hard to beat.

#5 Andre Obin, Teeels, Vows & My Love MHZ @ Radio Bushwick (FRI 8PM, $7)

Radio Bushwick hosts a night of synth pop on Friday, perfect for those seeking some slick grooves. Boston producer Andre Obin headlines, plus there’s Teeels, Vows, My Love MHZ and a DJ set from Steven Newcastle.

#4 Caveman, Total Slacker, Amanda X @ Brooklyn Night Bazaar (FRI 6PM, FREE)

If you’ve got a hankering for live music but not a lot of cash, Brooklyn Night Bazaar is always a prime weekend option. This weekend’s lineup is no exception, with the dreamy Caveman leading an excellent bill that also includes Total Slacker, Amanda X, and Reputante.

#3 Bambara, Baked, Kal Marks, Slothrust @ Death By Audio (SAT 8PM, $8)

Kal Marks – The Fucking Ocean from Michael Sampson on Vimeo.

Would two Death By Audio shows in one weekend be going overboard? We say no. Saturday night’s lineup is another doozy, with Boston’s Kal Marks, their Exploding in Sound brethren Baked, noise trio Bambara and bluesy local punks Slothrust.

#2 Doubting Thomas Cruise Control, Dances, Fins @ Emet (FRI 8PM, $8)

Pretty much everything about hole-in-the-wall Bushwick venue Emet rules, except the bathroom line (we warned you). They’ve been hosting some sick shows recently, and this weekend get ready for another late night rager. Brooklyn punks Doubting Thomas Cruise Control are celebrating their cassette release alongside Fins, Dances, Bodega Bay and Washer.

#1 The Good Festival @ Baby’s All Right (SAT 6:30PM, $10/12)

In Fall 2013, we experienced all that The Good Festival had to offer: music, food, demonstrations, and advice on sustainable living. It was pretty sweet, so we’re ready to do it all again this weekend. The Spring 2014 incarnation of The Good Festival moves to Baby’s All Right, with bands like The Suzan, Household, Wild Yaks, and Juan Wauters set to entertain. We’ll see you there!
