In this latest Friday First, we’re re-visiting some old friends; old friends from the future, that is (whoa, how meta). Former Bushwick Music Crushes Future Punx are readying the release of their very first 7” single, and we’re psyched to announce that Bushwick Daily has the exclusive premiere! Treat your ears to the spacey double whammy of “999/Livin’ in a Movie,” out March 11 via Dull Tools Records. Friday First is a weekly column spotlighting new releases from both local and national bands.

Who doesn’t love an up-and-coming band that just gets better and better? If you’ve been snoozing at all on Future Punx, it’s time to quit your slacking. Based in Brooklyn and rocking affiliations with a whole host of excellent other bands (Fergus & Geronimo, New Myths, Teenage Cool Kids & more), this sharp, visionary quartet are some of the hardest working musicians in the borough. For a while now, we’ve been enchanted by their truly-one-of-kind brand of retro-meets-futuristic grooves and hypnotic dance beats, plus mesmerizing visuals to match. Now with a 7” under their belt, there’s just no stopping these “post-wave” masterminds.

Get your grubby mitts on the “999/Livin’ in a Movie” 7” TONIGHT, March 7, when Future Punx hit Death by Audio for a record release show with Final Bloom and Eaters. Patience not your strong suit? The tracks are both up for free download on the Future Punx Bandcamp page.
