In the world of fast fashion, most of us would dump a torn pair of jeans in the trash rather than go and get them patched or repaired. But what about that favorite pair you can’t part with sitting at the bottom of your drawer? What if we told you there was a solution to that problem right in the neighborhood?

The Stepping Razor, an easy to miss spot on Flushing Avenue at Bogart Street, already offers great haircuts in an old school atmosphere. Starting Sept. 23, they’re teaming up with Bushwood Tailors to offer alteration, repair, and fitting services in the shop.

Owner Danny Baptista opened the Stepping Razor in 2010, and shortly after that, his wife Claudia DeSousa-Baptista started Bushwood Tailors, a company that regularly works with brands like J. Crew, Club Monaco, Free People, and Marc Jacobs.

Baptista says, “After years of watching both businesses grow we decided it was time to merge the two and offer alterations and custom denim work on site to our clients while they wait and enjoy a cold beer. It seemed like a perfect match.” Denim specialist tailor Todd Martin from Todd Martin Studio will kick off the partnership next Saturday.

While most dry cleaning spots also do alterations, you generally have to (gasp!) interact with another human being. At the Stepping Razor, you can make an appointment online.

But hurry, since the inaugural event runs from 3 to 6 p.m. and may only return on a monthly pop-up basis, there are only six available appointments online.
