It's important to protect governmental and affordable housing operations, especially in our neighborhood where the rent prices are creeping ever-higher. The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is also helping residents stay informed on the resources available to them by hosting an informational event tomorrow, July 6 at 314 Wilson Ave.

Residents of Palmetto Gardens, Hope Gardens, and Bushwck II are invited to a resource fair, where they can learn about local job training programs, summer meal services, and new developments in the neighborhood.

The event will include services from NYCHA's digital van, which operates as a mobile computer lab, offering free internet access to residents. Staff will also assist residents with resumes, job applications, email setup, and other online services.

Residents are also invited to a demonstration of NYCHA's emergency services van, which is a command bus with computers, dispatched for major incidents in the neighborhood. Its goal is to show residents what Emergency Services can do as a resource for residents outside of normal hours or during an emergency.

The event is tomorrow from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and is a collaboration between NextGen, the New York Housing Authority, Assembly Member Maritza Davila and Councilmember Rafael Espinal.
