How do you know you’re in Brooklyn?

Snow Rats

We have seen hundreds of images of small and even ehm, adult children jumping into the snow and making snow angels, enjoying the sudden winder wonderland that New York turned into overnight.

But you know who else likes to frolic in the snow? Rats.

Bushwick resident John Wlaysewski took a video of these happy Bushwick snow rats on Saturday night on Weirfield Ave between Bushwick Ave and Broadway. The rats were running through the fresh powder snow leaving little corridors behind them.

“How do you know you’re in New York,” John asks in the video. “Snow rats.”

“If they are frolicking like that in the snow, that area is massively infested,” somebody commended on the video.

Well, it is a known fact that Bushwick has had the highest number of rat complaint phone calls to 311 between 201o and 2012 of all New York neighborhoods, and it seems that in 2016 the rats aren’t going anywhere either. Not even during a snowstorm, or a nuclear apocalypse for that matter.
