In our humble opinion, the best Brooklyn Book Festival event (save for the giant fair you should all attend at Borough Hall on Sunday, Sept. 17) is happening in Bushwick. If you show up to The Muse’s Moffat Street space at 7:30 p.m. tonight, you will not only get to hear some of the most inventive voices in literary fiction, but you’ll also get to watch stunning aerial performances.

H.I.P. Lit, VIDA, and The Rumpus have teamed up yet again to bring us a feast for the eyes and ears in “Transcending Spaces: A Literary & Aerial Spectacular.” It’s a bookend event, which means it’s adjacent to a lot of the other talks, readings, and release parties happening throughout the borough. A full and overwhelming schedule is available here

The donation-based event will feature readings from Hala Alyan, Alana Massey, Alissa Nutting, Téa Obreht, and Camille Rankine. If you have never heard any of these women read from books which have earned praise from the National Book Foundation, the Crab Orchard Review, and others!

And no literary event would be complete without an after party. This one’s at Nowadays down the block with a happy hour all night deal. We can’t think of a better way to spend a Friday night!
