4th of July Parties; GIANT Murderous Full Moon (You've Been Warned) & More: Weekly Events Round Up

If we survive this Saturday's full moon, it will be a great great great week!

Katarina Hybenova

It is a pleasure to be alive in our city and our neighborhood in the beginning of the summer. The summer is still clear like a sheet of paper, save for an intro paragraph; there are no blots, no mistakes, no tears to it. Anything can happen. And I truly believe it will be a summer of wonder, adventure, and aliveness.

Tomorrow is the Fourth of July and I hope you have massively epic plans. If you're not entirely sure yet, see the events curated from our FREE community calendar below.

As far as the moon goes (and you know it's always about the moon with me), I have a lil' fair warning for you. This Saturday we have a full moon, and it is called Thunder Moon for a reason. It will be a truly intense one. Our emotions will run the gamut, which can cause serious relationship problems, and some astrologers even warn about an increased number of murders.

However intense this weekend might get, it's a good thing we know about it beforehand. It's like when you're driving with Google Maps on and you see a red zone traffic jam ahead, you're less angry when you arrive there, because you had time to get mentally ready for it. Similarly when the full moon hits us on Saturday, you can lucidly observe any effects it might have on you, and you can catch yourself, knowing it's just the celestial energies--not worth breaking up with someone, let alone murdering them, gulp. (No violence, people, I mean it!)

Anyway, in case you realize you can't deal with the moon situation, tweet at me, and I'll send you a little meditation, blessing, or a spell, and we'll get through it!

Now let's take a look at the events:

TUESDAY: House of Yes’ ‘Summer of Love At The Park’ July 4 Dance Party & BBQ

1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Onderdonk Farmhouse, 1820 Flushing Ave, Ridgewood, FREE with RSVP or $10 at the door

If you're not at a beach or upstate tomorrow, you'll be happy to hear that House of Yes is throwing probably the best party in the city! At the lovely Dutch farm in the middle of an industrial wasteland (yes, that's a thing), they will be BBQing, dancing to DJ Eli Escobar's tunes, and of course there will be immersive circus-style entertainment and a TON of great food and drink!

TUESDAY: 1st Annual Sausage Sizzle at KCBC

noon till 6 p.m., KCBC, 381 Troutman St., Bushwick, FREE

The beer brewers of KCBC have decided to start their own annual tradition of Fourth of July merrymaking. They will be serving sausages from Foster Sundry and DJ Led Robster will spin the afternoon away. You can also be one of the first people to try their new summer brew called Sandcastles (it's a perfect name if you ask me)!
