A local grassroots organization is inviting the public to come get its hands dirty at one of Bushwick’s most beautiful parks this weekend.

Friends of Irving Square Park, who run the park’s annual Howl-A-Ween community pet day in October, among many other events, are hosting a “spring cleaning” at the park this Saturday, May 21st, from 10am-2pm.

All members of the Bushwick community are encouraged to attend: there will be activities for children, who can learn about horticulture while helping with the work, which includes weeding the flower beds to help the park’s flora flourish.

The event is sponsored by Partnerships for Parks and supported by the office of city council member Rafael Espinal.

RSVP on Facebook here, wear your work clothes and bring a water bottle—and enjoy!
