The music and art festival inside a Bushwick salon has announced a 2016 lineup that will feature three days of live performances and interactive art, which will take place on the first weekend in June.

Color Me Bushwick, which is organized by Pickthorn Salon, originated in proprietor Chelsey Pickthorn’s desire to work with mainstays of the local music and art scene. Performers at the festival, which is curated by Pickthorn and Jocelyn Simone, are provided with Pickthorn’s services as a hair designer and stylist.

Thirty bands, including Shinobi Ninja, Cosmonaut, Sharkmuffin, and Haybaby, will play this year’s festival on a stage which will be erected in the salon.

Elsewhere in and around the salon, “Baristarist” Michael Breach will work in espresso to make portraits of festival goers, artist Phil Buehler (a contributor to Bushwick Daily) will showcase a 3D walk in Space Oddity panorama, and Pickthorn’s neighbors All Hail Tattoo will offer festival-inspired flash tattoos for $20 apiece. A bar furnished with the offerings of event sponsors PBR and Sailor Jerry Rum will be open throughout the festival, as well.

Attendance numbers have been in the hundreds for each year of the festival thus far. The event, which is free, is supported by a slew of sponsors, though donations to help with the expenses of putting on the festival will be accepted at the bar.

Enjoy, Bushwick!

Color Me Bushwick will take place on Friday, June 3rd, Saturday, June 4th and Sunday, June 5th at Pickthorn Salon at 61 Wyckoff Ave at Willoughby Ave, off of the Jefferson stop on the L train. Check out the full lineup and RSVP on Facebook.
