If you’ve been looking for a reason to spend a weekend checking out a nearby neighborhood, here’s just such an occasion: a 300 participant open studios event takes over Greenpoint from Friday night to Sunday evening.

Greenpoint Open Studios, which is co-organized by members of the Greenpoint arts community and spearheaded by neighborhood blog Greenpointers, is a more contained affair thanBushwick’s own open studios: a launch party and a wrap party bookending the weekend sandwich 6 hours of open studio time from 12-6 on Saturday.

“GOS is a grassroots effort to provide local artists a support network and platform for promoting their work in a free and open uncurated way,” Greenpointers publisher Julia Moak says. “It’s not profitable and is very much a labor of love that has been a huge challenge/learning curve for me but it’s also been very inspiring to be in touch with all the participating artists.”

Bust out your bike, put on your most comfortable shoes and maybe pack your camera—we’ll see you there!
