Feeling like you need a little more poetry in your life? Or just looking for something both cool and smart to do this Sunday night? Then make sure to check out the launch party for the Pine Box Reading Series this upcoming Sunday, October 13th at Mellow Pages, one of our beloved Bushwick bookstores.

The Pine Box Reading Series is a new poetry reading series organized by Elijah Bean, Joshua Kleinberg and Alexis Pope, which will meet at local hot-spot Pine Box Rock Shop. Kleinberg told us that the founders are  looking for poets who are “able to perform their work well; that’s kind of one of our ‘aesthetic tenets’ for the reading series.” The founders hope for the series to be an entertaining, community-building Bushwick staple.

The Sunday launch party (slash reading) will be, according to their Facebook invite, “a poetry reading of moderate-to-epic proportions.” Joining the party as guest readers will be Caroline Crew from Northampton, who was interviewed in the most recent issue of Writer’s Chronicle, and Mike Bushell, someone Kleinberg says “gives, like, the most raucous, focus-grabbing readings of any poet I’ve ever seen.”

So grab a friend (or, if you want to impress with your literary prowess, a date), some beer, and be sure to get your booty to Mellow Pages this Sunday at 8PM.

The free, BYOB launch party starts at 8PM. More info about the founders/readers, location details and RSVP here!
