Before Bushwick had New York Times write-ups and citywide acclaim for its art scene, it was a silent, sleeping hub of creative ingenuity. We all gotta raise our glasses high for the O.G.’s responsible for putting this place on the map, and what better way to do so than check out their work during Bushwick Open Studios that brought us here?

Rafael Fuchs @ Fuchs Projects, 56 Bogart St. (FRI-SUN 12-8PM)

Have you seen this guy around? He’s Bushwick’s quintessential photographer-extraordinaire, and he’s showcasing his photography in his gallery this BOS. Sure to be a happening spot as always.

Go see Legends of Drafts, a big group show of studies designed to give you a taste of some local artists’ work, and then tell you where to go check out their studios.c

Meg Lipke @ 347 Troutman St #223. (SAT-SUN 12-7PM)

Norte Maar @ 83 Wyckoff Ave #1B. (Sat 11AM-2PM)

One of the most prolific curators who has constantly been introducing Bushwick outside of his borders, Jason Andrew invited many of his favorite neighborhood artists to come together and to create varied portraits of the favorite neighborhood pet, Fern Dog. Bring yo’ pooch! Awwwwww.
