Guests were asked to dress to impress in white and wild, gold and gilded, pearled perfection or metallic magic. House of Yes wanted divine creatures decorating their dance floor. The countdown to midnight was perfectly timed as owner, Anya Sapozhnikova, emerged on-stage from a flaming bathtub before soaring to the ceiling as pounds of confetti came raining down on the roaring dance crowd.

House of Yes officially opened its doors to Bushwick this past New Year’s Eve hosting the aptly titled, “The Beginning of Everything,” which may very well have been the most anticipated, magical and inspiring party of the night (if not the year). Owners Anya Sapozhnikova, Kae Burke, Justin Ahiyon and Ilan Telmont (Anya and Kae also performed throughout the event) executed a mind-blowing evening, which started out with the Sunny Side Social Club (a eccentric five piece jazz band) and Lady Circus Revue (an accompaniment of fire breathers, aerial dancers and scantily clad performers).

The evening was later in the hands of DJs David Hohme and Reda Briki, with non-stop performances featuring sword dancing, a wacky wall of sex, silk dancers, a terrifyingly beautiful clown show, a truly spectacular New Years countdown moment and more dancing above my head than Bushwick may have ever seen. When your venue’s tagline is “The Best Venue Ever”, New Years Eve can come with some pretty high expectations.  House of Yes delivered on every one of them.
