We may have lost the Brooklyn Flea to Industry City and Brooklyn Night Bazaar to Riis Beach, but a new flea market is coming to North Brooklyn this fall that plans on combining the best of both fleas. It’s called Rock n’ Shop, and it comes to us via local rockers The Bushwick Hotel. The market debuts this Sunday, October 4 and will be open every Sunday through November (eventually Saturdays, too).

Rock n’ Shop will be held inside The Paper Box, an indie music and arts venue between the Montrose and Grand L stops. Expect about 40 local vendors, from handmade jewelry by Brooklyn Smith, vinyl from Eat Records, rock apparel by Natalia Cortes and more. A flea wouldn’t be a proper flea without good grub, and there’s plenty of that: Santo Burrito, Traze pizza, City of Saints Coffee, Lawless Jerky. You’ll also be able to listen to live music from local bands (including The Bushwick Hotel, obvs) with up to seven free all ages matinee shows.

In just in case all of that didn’t make you want to quit your Sunday plans, there will be a designated spot where you can get a real tattoo from Magic Cobra Tattoo Society’s Ulyss Blair and haircut or a beard trim.

For the grand opening on Sunday, there will be extended hours until 10 pm with free live music by Progress (more bands TBA). Come early for a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 am followed by Bushwick Breakfast Bingo with free pancakes and Bagelsmith bagels.

Rock ‘n shop

And in the nicest possible gesture, Bushwick Hotel saxophonist Matt La Von will shuttle shoppers between the market and Bedford Avenue every hour in the group’s recreational vehicle. Get to the Rock ‘n Shop before it’s gone!

Rock ’n’ Shop at The Paper Box, 17 Meadow St. between Bogart and Waterbury Sts, East Williamsburg. Sundays starting Oct. 4. 9 am to 7 pm. Saturdays beginning November 7. Free.
