Two recent fires in Bushwick prove that fireworks are banned in New York for a reason…

This past weekend, during 4th of July festivities, at least two fires erupted on Bushwick buildings–at 140 Wyckoff Ave and 538 Johnson Ave–leaving several people injured and without a shelter.

At an infamous Johnson Ave warehouse known for its wild parties, a fire erupted as a result of a firecracker hitting the second floor rooftop.

A witness, who wished to remain anonymous, described the fire as, “small embers burning but quickly grew into a full blown raging fire. It was difficult to tell where it started because it got so big, so fast. The fire department showed up very quickly to try to handle the situation.”

Over at 140 Wyckoff Ave, more than 100 firefighters responded to the fire just before 9PM, wrote DNAinfo. The fire erupted on the third floor, burning through an apartment and sending four people to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Six different apartments were made unlivable as a result of the fire.
