Shwick Market, provided by Shwick.

Last weekend, Shwick, a market of makers that locals have seen signs for EVERYWHERE opened in a vacant space next to Little Skips. Although Shwick had been teasing us for months about a space off of Morgan Avenue, they found a home nestled on 6 Charles Place.

The market is small. It appeared there were less than 25 vendors, but they were all very special with local, handcrafted goods. It may not be the best place to get your major shopping done, but it’s definitely a good market to treat yourself to something unique or buy a gift… and you know the holidays are almost here! Shwick also promised us this was only the beginning, and it would continue to grow. It’s open every weekend, Saturdays from 10am-8pm and Sundays from 10am-7pm. Here’s a sampling of what we saw.

Dona Chai samples and sells her delicious chai tea concentrate. It can also be purchased next door, any time, at Little Skips. All you have to do is add milk, and you have a cafe-ready pick-me-up.

Got Cake! is an inventive new way to indulge! You get to build your own cake, mix and matching the toppings you want that ranges with everything delicious from peanut butter to cream cheese.

Black Lamb sells adorable cards, perfect for any occasion.

JCorp sells custom notebooks, comics and pillows, all with Justine Wong’s customer character.

One vendor grows little plants out of corks. The best thing about this recycled project is that the plants have magnets on them. You can create a little garden, right on your refrigerator.

Michael Cuomo (not the Governor) does paintings on cardboard. The work shown here is painted from The Bronx.

Althea Gaskin Feurich runs Gaskin Feurich Designs. Her recycled designs have been featured in New York Fashion Week. Althea used vintage fabrics to craft robes, slips and more.

Mixed-media artist Eddy Bogaert’s work is 3D, and comes alive in a different way when the viewer wears 3D glasses.

Bees Knees Spicy Honey is a honey for the brave. It’s the perfect sweet & spicy flavor to amp up a hot-toddy. So get on it this winter! In case you miss it at the market, this honey will soon be sold at Whole Foods as well.

The BQE Photography makes jewelry out of original photographs of New York. You can also buy metallic prints.

Linty Toes takes large adult shirts and resizes them into children’s shirts. The perfect gift for that next birthday party!
