Ah! Friday the 13th is tomorrow. We hope you’re not superstitious because there are way too many good shows this weekend to let old wives tales intervene. We have rounded out the best shows of the weekend, and most of them are free! So grab your lucky rabbit’s foot and put on your luckiest pair of underwear as we count down the best shows to attend this weekend.

#10 Friday the 13th Tarot Party with House of Screwball and Crimson Kitty @ Mominette (FRI 10:30PM, FREE)

Kicking off our top show countdown is a Friday the 13th Tarot Party with House of Screwball and a special card reading by the talented drag queen/burlesque dance extarodinaire Crimson Kitty!

#9 Napoleon, Daytona, Tiger Dare, Dog Water @ Cake Shop (THUR 7PM, $8)

Ever been tempted to see a band that calls its music bubblegum trance? Well now is your chance to come see Napoleon at Cake Shop tonight. Pack some dancing shoes and we’ll see you there!

#8 Standard Sounds Presents… Spires @Standard, East Village (FRI 7PM, FREE w/ RSVP)

We’ve been hearing about Spires a lot lately so it’s no surprise that the Standard Hotel and Standard Sounds have picked them up to play at Chez Andre. Come see them for free at the (less douchey) Standard Hotel in the East Village! RSVP to [email protected].

#7 Diarrhea Planet, Purling Hiss, Big Ups, Manors Brooklyn Bazaar (SAT 5PM, FREE)

It’s a post-hardcore dream show this Saturday at Brooklyn Bazaar. Last week we premiered  post-hardcore band Big Up’s video and we loved it. So we recommend that you watch the video and roll on over to Brooklyn Night Bazaar for some holiday shopping and great rock n’ roll.

#6 3rd Annual MiniBoone/Fort Useless Holiday Party w/ Hippy, Fayaway, Chris North @ Fort Useless (SAT 7:30PM, FREE)

Bushwick’s art gallery/venue Fort Useless is having their 3rd annual Holiday Party with lo-fi indie rockers Hippy, Jazzy trio Fayeaway, ’60s-inspired indie pop Mini Boone, and psychedelic rocker Chris North.

#5 GRATITUDE*NYC Presents: COSMIC MIRRORRS @ a Private Warehouse (SAT 9:30PM, $55)

So it might be a bit steep to pay $55 to attend a party, but you can’t not have a fun time at this rave with a silent disco, several art installations, and several stages with a million DJs (okay, slight exaggeration). Plus it’s a great opportunity to meet fellow Burning Man enthusiasts.

#4 The Wild Honey Pie’s 4th Birthday Bash @ Glasslands (THUR 8PM, $12)

Remember when we went to summer camp with Wild Honey Pie and lazily drank beer in the river and listened to Widowspeak, Yellow Ostrich, and Caveman? Well, they’re turning the big 0-4 this weekend! Come shimmy and shake with some of their favorite artists; Monogold, Canon Logic, Arms, and Wilsen at Glasslands.

#3 Until The Ribbon Breaks, Dusted @ Brooklyn Bowl (SUN 7PM, FREE w/ RSVP)

Holy Fuck’s Brian Borcherdt is playing his side project at Brooklyn Bowl this Sunday. His lo-fi melodies are a long way from the electronic music he plays with Holy Fuck. This is worth the trek to Brooklyn Bowl to catch him play with Until the Ribbon Breaks.

pizza underground

#2 Macaulay Culkin’s pizza Velvet Underground thing @ Baby’s All Right (FRI 7PM, FREE)

Macaulay Culkin is in a Velvet Underground tribute band that sings about pizza called the Pizza Underground and it’s probably one the best things we’ve heard all week. Be sure to catch them this Friday at Baby’s All Right. I’m sure Lou is rolling in his grave now.

#1 WILD YAKS, LODRO, TURNIP KING, BUENO, OBERHOFER DJ SET @CHEAP STORAGE (SAT 8PM, $8)

Widely popular  Bushwick DIY venue Cheap Storage is throwing a party this Saturday with Oberhofer DJing, and performances by our local faves Wild Yaks, Lodro, Turnip King, and Bueno.
