Remember my rant that Bushwick which once produced 10% of America’s beer is shamefully lacking any local breweries today?  Well, Marshall Thompson and Eric Feldman are stepping up to fill our neighborhood’s dark, brewery-less void, with plans to open Braven Brewing Company on Bushwick soil within the next year.  The boys are starting out as a gypsy brewery – concocting their beers on other breweries’ equipment –  until their Kickstarter campaign brings in enough bucks to open their own local operation.

That means that we, my fellow Bushwickians, have the chance to be involved from day one, starting tomorrow night with the boys’ Kickstarter Launch Party at St. Mazie in Williamsburg from 8 to 11PM.  There the guys will be pouring samples of their flagship brews – a pair of formidable India Pale Ales – and proving to us why we should help make their boozy dream a neighborhood reality by donating to their Kickstarter.  With Las Hormiguitas jamming grungy, surfer rock and Mike Lucena of Flyrite Tattoo inking folks with Braven-inspired tattoos, this promises to be an event you don’t want to miss!
