Do you sometimes suffer from Cabin Fever?? If so, you should hop on a train and check out how Bushwick creatives are taking their talents outside the hood this Saturday.

For those feeling literary:

What: POPSICKLE 2013; Popsickle is Brooklyn’s literary arts festival. Now in its fourth year, the fest aims to unite Brooklyn’s array of reading series and mags into one day-long literary mega-reading. It’s happening this year at LaunchPad. Come for some of it, stay for all of it.

When: Saturday, 12-9 pm

Where: LaunchPad, 721 Franklin Avenue, Brooklyn

WHO?!: Mellow Pages Library’s very own Jacob Perkins will be reading, and Bushwick-book staple Eric Nelson and his Fireside Follies will be there as well.

For those feeling artistic:

What: A Controlled Wild; For their site-specific project in the Sun Porch, artists Adam Frezza and Terri Chiao transform the space into a constructed natural environment created largely through artificial means. The artists have built a small, pyramidal greenhouse in the center of the Sun Porch, populated by a lush assortment of handmade, paper plants dispersed among living plants curated from local nurseries. Viewers are invited to enter the greenhouse sculpture and inspect the plants up close while immersed in a fantastical landscape of fiction and reality.

When: Opening reception: Saturday, June 22, 1-4 pm. (But don’t worry if you can’t make it! Exhibit will be on through July 28)

Where: Wave Hill, New York Public Garden and Cultural Center, 675, Independence Ave, The Bronx

WHO?!: Adam Frezza and Terri Chiao. These two dope artists were featured in the first edition of  BUSHWICK CRIBZ. We expect an especially sick exhibit from this duo, especially given the context of Wave Hill’s amazing space.

For those feeling musical:

What: Fashion Club: This week’s Fashion Club has a very special performance by Ana Lola Roman! Along with free drinks and if you’re interested in having dinner with them just be there by 11pm and have a $10 tip for the amazing servers.

When: Saturday June 22, 11:30 pm-4 am.

Where: The DL, 95 Delancey St, Manhattan

WHO?!: After touring various parts of South America, Eastern Europe and Germany, Ana Lola Roman now resides in Brooklyn, producing a steady stream of EPs over the past two years and prepping to release her first full-length album, Even Assassins Have Lovers and Romances, scheduled for Spring 2013.

For those feeling like mermaids:

What: The Mermaid Parade, of course!!

When: Saturday, June 22, 1 pm-???

Where: Coney Island. Follow the mermaids!!

Who?!? All the (s)he-fish in the sea will swim from the Newton Creek to the East River to Gowanus canal all the way to Coney Island!!

 For those feeling crafty:

What: The Renegade Craft Fair; a cool, twice-a-year place to get some goods.

When: Saturday, June 22-Sunday, June 23, 11 am-7 pm

Where: East River State Park, North 8th St & Kent Ave

WHO?!?: A bunch of Brooklyn (and other regions!) craft-makers and artists. This year we especially have our eye on Kim Sielbeck!!
